Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session

McLaren drivers in action — Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.

Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.

Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.

The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.

Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.

The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.

Hamilton ended the session in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.

The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
